Dr. Brigitte Dufresne is the new owner of Frontenac Eye Clinic, now operating under HOOVER Optometry. Dr. Dufresne graduated with a Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Montreal in 1995. During her training, she completed 2 externships in U.S. hospitals located in Gallup, New Mexico, and in Pocatello, Idaho. She then successfully wrote the National Board to practice in Ontario. Dr. Dufresne holds a certificate in advanced ocular disease and therapeutics and her areas of practice include pediatrics, contact lens therapy, and refractive surgery.
She has been practicing since 1997 at Fournier Eye Care in Cornwall, Ontario. It is only in 2007 that she had the opportunity to acquire the practice which now operates under the name of 8 on Second Optométristes. Her vision is simple; Every patient's visit should be an enjoyable, inspiring, and efficient one. Dedicated to nothing but best-in-class eye care medical services, she takes pride in creating a practice that is quality-driven and independent, while offering a highly curated and stylish product selection at a fair price.
Most recently, Dr. Dufresne saw great potential to grow her unique practice model in Kingston. In June 2019, her husband Carl Gagnon and herself acquired Frontenac Eye Clinic, a reputed and long-time established practice founded by Dr. Jim Hoover. Striving to maintain the independent status of his practice while addressing today’s consumer expectations, Dr. Hoover saw a true fit with Dr. Dufresne's vision. This shared vision allows him to continue practicing and to pursue his passion and dedication to quality eye care here at HOOVER Optometry for the years to come.
